Skoda Kushaq Facelift Spied Testing in India – Key Changes Revealed

Skoda is prepping for a new launch soon. The Kushaq facelift has finally been spotted testing, hinting at an update coming later this year or early next year. The Kushaq hasn’t been doing too well in recent months. Ever since the Kylaq entered the scene, sales of the Kushaq have dropped sharply. While the Kylaq is pulling in 4,000 to 5,000 units every month, Kushaq is struggling to hit even 1,000 units.

Visual Changes on the Outside

The test units were fully camouflaged. But some details still stood out. Most of the styling seems similar to the current version. The signature butterfly grille is still there. So is the split headlamp setup and roof rails. The taillamps are expected to get a small change. Skoda might add a slim DRL strip to connect them.

The front bumper has been revised. It now has a wider and more squared-off air dam. The new black honeycomb mesh makes the front look sportier. On the side, changes are minimal. The facelift is seen wearing a new set of blacked-out alloy wheels. The rear bumper may also get a small tweak to match the front’s updated design.

Interior Updates Coming Too

Inside the cabin, things may stay mostly the same. But expect some useful features to be added. These could include a 360-degree camera, ambient lighting, and Level 2 ADAS features. These upgrades will give the Kushaq an edge in the compact SUV space.

No Major Engine Changes Yet

The facelifted Kushaq will keep the same turbo petrol engines. That includes the 1.0-litre 3-cylinder TSI and the more powerful 1.5-litre 4-cylinder TSI EVO. The smaller engine offers 116 bhp and 175 Nm of torque. It will continue with the 6-speed manual and an updated 8-speed torque converter automatic. However, the new 8-speed automatic won’t be available at launch. It’s expected to come in 2026.

The 1.5-litre engine will stay paired with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG. Fuel efficiency should improve slightly, especially with the new gearbox planned down the line. Skoda also needs this to meet the CAFE III norms that are kicking in soon.
